International Translation Day: 30 September International Translation Day is celebrated every year on 30 September. The celebrations have been promoted by the International Federation of Translators (FIT) ever since it was set up in 1953. The day coincides with the feast day of St. Jerome, a Christian scholar and priest who was the first person to translate the Bible into Latin from the original Hebrew. The biggest festival of Nepal ‘Bada Dashain’ begins Bada Dashain, the biggest festival of Nepal has begun. The festival starts on the first day of Navaratri. This year UNESCO is commemorating the International Day for Universal Access to Information with a series of ‘Open Talks’. World Rabies Day: 28 September World Rabies Day is celebrated annually on 28 September. World Tourism Day: 27 September The United Nations World Tourism Organization announced 27th September as World Tourism Day in 1980 and has been celebrating the day since then. The objective is to acquaint people with the social, economic, cultural and political importance of tourism and make them responsible tourists in turn. Each year sees a new theme and a new country as a host. This year for the first time India will be hosting World Tourism Day which has the theme ‘Tourism and Jobs: a better future for all’.
